Flathead Sheriffs Posse

Today’s Sheriff’s Posse works closely with Flathead County Sheriff’s Department and is made up of volunteers who care about and want to serve their community.

The primary objectives of the Flathead County Sheriff’s Posse are the following:

  1. To aid the Sheriff in his service to the citizens of the county.
  2. To preserve crime scene evidence.
  3. To aid in natural disasters and evacuation efforts for protection of the public.
  4. To provide security at the Northwest Montana Fair.
  5. To provide crowd control at large community events.
  6. To provide security at High School Sporting events.

In addition to serving the local Sheriff’s department, the Posse also works with and assists other local law enforcement agencies throughout Flathead County. Some of the unique ways the Posse has been able to serve in the past is for Presidential and Vice Presidential visits, Governors Association meetings, air shows, and movie productions.
